Sensing energy is the most important thing for a psion to learn. Without it you are "flying blind." It enables you to"see" or "feel" what you are working with.

Enough introduction...

How To Sense Psi

Different people sense different ways. I tend to feel and see the psi with my mind. Most people when they are starting out only see it in their mind.

How you do it is hard to explain. The way I describe it most often is "Moving your mind, or part of it, out of your body, and touching (or seeing) the energy with your mind." That said some methods immediately come to mind

The first method I used was the hand method. The steps are shown below.

1. Clear your mind (This is a good first step for any energy working.)

2. Imagine a hand coming out of your head (Some use the third eye or crown chakras) and touching the psi. As the hand is part of you, you feel what it feels.

3. Feel the psi, grasp it with your hand. Let yourself feel what the hand feels.

That is what I did at first. When that became second nature, I was able to do energy "sweeps." It works similar to radar. You know on radar there is that little line that goes in circles showing disruptions? I basically make the line out of psi and spin it in circles. Then I see all the disruptions in the line, and thus see the psi. Here's how I do it.

1. Clear your mind.

2. Make a wall of energy that is very high and has one end connected to you. Make sure that it is long enough to cover the area you are sensing. (Hint: The larger the wall the harder it will be to handle all the information)

3. Move the wall in circles around you and feel what it feels.

Thats mainly how I sense. I do sometimes RP but thats for another lesson...
